Amy Wilson MA, Office Manager

Hi, I am Amy Wilson. I was born and raised in South Dakota.  I graduated from Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming; and came to Jackson in 2001 with my husband Brandon Wilson, who is 5th generation to the valley.  I have 2 adult children Kylie and Tipton, who are 6th generation to the valley.

I have been with Jackson Whole Family Health for about 14 years.  In my spare time my family and I are heavily involved with rodeo.  During the summer our family (The Philip Wilson Family) run the Jackson Hole Rodeo from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  In the off season we as a family like to camp, fish, hunt and enjoy the Wyoming beauty around us.

What is a nurse practitioner?

Nurse practitioners (NPs) have provided health-care services to patients for more than 50 years. NPs are registered nurses (RNs) who are prepared, through advanced education and clinical training, to provide preventive and acute health-care services to individuals of all ages and are qualified to meet the majority of patients' health-care needs.

They promote a comprehensive approach to health care and emphasize the overall health and wellness of their patients. Our nurse practitioners have completed a graduation that is a master's or doctorate degree. They are able to diagnose health issues, order diagnostic testing, and prescribe medications. Any medical condition that cannot be treated or requires a medical specialty will be referred to the best available consults.

What is an annual exam and why do I need one?

No matter your age or stage of life, yearly physical exams ( also known as Wellness Exams) are essential to your lifelong health.  Regular preventive care is one of the best ways to identify and treat health issues before they worsen. These visits also help you track your progress toward your health goals. We assess your overall physical, mental and social health, update vaccines, recommend appropriate cancer screenings, and evaluate screening lab work and address any concerning findings. This allows us to help you to stay healthy.

How is a Women's Heath visit different than an annual exam?

A Women's Health visit is an annual exam that includes a clinical breast exam and pelvic exam. Pap smears are screening tests for cervical cancer that are recommended every 1-5 years depending on age and prior test results. Even though we don't generally perform a pap smear every year, an annual Women's Health exam is still recommended for women age 21 and older.
